Early Ice Action is Heating Up

We have been able to get out on the hard water a couple of times already this season. Unfortunately, we have been seeing some limited success. Our problem has been that we were fishing mid-season haunts for fish when they clearly were not there yet. Remember, the first thing you should always look for when fishing early ice is standing green weeds. The green weeds are producing oxygen. The oxygen attracts fish and makes them more active and willing to devour your presentation. Always start shallow at early ice. Not only will the fish most likely be there, but they will be hungry too! We will be out fishing again this weekend in search of panfish. Saturday we'll be on an Anoka County lake and Sunday we'll be out in Sherburne County looking for GIANT Crappies! Good luck and we'll see you on the Ice!!
